2301, Exoplanet 12 – The colony is on the brink of collapse. Only the lost technology, hidden within the alien ruins, can bring the long-awaited salvation.
But you are not alone in the ruins.

What is Exo Tomb?

In Exo Tomb, you take on the role of a Tomb Warrior, a lone fighter searching for alien relics. You venture into the depths of the ruins, brave dangers and face the ancient tomb guardians who still roam amongst the crumbling walls.

Once you’ve pushed open the gates of the ruins, you can’t count on any help from outside. You’ll have nothing but your plasma blaster and your courage to rely on.

The World of Exo Tomb
The colony

To escape the inevitable destruction of Earth, a small group of brave, daring and desperate space travellers decided to seek their fortune on the distant exoplanet 12. A wild, dangerous and yet beautiful world awaited them; with deserts of red sand, forests of coral-like growths, raging rivers and vast, unfathomable oceans. There they founded the first colony outside our home solar system: Sûryòdaya City – the City of the Sunrise.

But the dream quickly proves to be deceptive: the hitherto unknown substance Karmenium permeates everything. Only within the large housing domes can people survive without breathing masks, and the crops growing in the Karmenium-contaminated soil are inedible. In theory, a long-term terraforming project could filter the Karmenium out of the atmosphere, but this would simply mean repeating Earth’s sins. In their search for a way out, the colonists’ attention soon turns to…

The ruins

Buried beneath sand and rubble, overgrown by coral forests and submerged in foul-smelling swamps, lie the remains of an ancient civilisation. The mighty rulers of this planet, who were once organised into fiefdoms and noble houses, have long since vanished from the face of this exoplanet. Yet the weathered ruins of their palaces and fortresses still stand. And even if their armies are no longer as numerous or impressive as they were in their heyday, the deathless, biomechanical constructs remain ready for battle.

How do you play Exo Tomb?

Once you have created your Tomb Warrior based on three character traits, you lead him into the first Ruin.

At the start of the game, the ruin is scanned to see what dangers, relics and challenges await you. The aim is to escape the ruin with as many relics as possible. But be careful: the gates to the exit will only open once you have found a minimum number of relics.

The treasure hunt proves to be a dangerous undertaking: ancient biomechanical constructs and alien predators roam the dark corridors. Combat takes place on the Combat Assistant, which displays four different range levels, each of which has a distinct effect on the course of battle. Here, you have a vast arsenal of deadly weapons at your disposal: from highly advanced plasma blasters and long-range laser rifles to armour-piercing hullbreakers and – of course – the good old shotgun.

Once you’ve found all the relics you need, you can set off to leave the ruins and return to the colony. Here, your Tomb Warrior can rest, buy new equipment and get ready for the next run.

What do you need to play?

Apart from the Exo Tomb rulebook, you will need:

  • Various role-playing dice (D4, D6, D8, D10, D12, D100)
  • Combat Assistant
  • Game markers (e.g. dice in different colours)
  • Miniatures for your Tomb Warrior and alien creatures

Very important: You don’t need any special miniatures for the game. Exo Tomb expressly encourages its players to kit-bash their own miniatures or use figures from their existing collection.

If you don’t have any miniatures at hand, you’ll find cut-out standees in the appendix to the rulebook.
